Belassi set out to engineer a personal watercraft that defied traditional limits. They didn’t want to build a standard jetski, they wanted to create a Personal Hypercraft. Their goal? Extracting an astonishing 330 horsepower from a compact 3-cylinder marine engine.


To achieve this extreme power-to-weight ratio, turbocharging was the only answer. However, bringing hypercar-level forced induction into a marine environment presented an entirely new arena of design challenges. Automotive turbochargers live in a relatively dry, open engine bay. A marine turbocharger operates inside a sealed hull, constantly exposed to high humidity and salt water. Matching our turbocharger technology to the unforgiving water surface required out-of-the-box solutions.


The Belassi program demonstrates the sheer versatility of Tachyon Engineering. By successfully solving the unique trifecta of marine engineering: corrosion, switch from electrical to pneumatic components and intense thermal constraints. We helped Belassi successfully rewrite the rules of personal watercraft performance.
