Zandvoort, June 2nd 2009 - Whitsun Races 2009

Whitsun, another religious day with Dutch GT4 races. The weekend started on Friday morning with the training sessions. The car had been rebalanced and realigned as the roll cage needed to be changed to comply with the FIA safety rules.

Later in the afternoon the first race took place. Michiel started from the 19th place, fighting for his position right from the start. After a battle for several laps with Peter van der Kolk he overtook the Corvette Z06 but a lap later Peter took his place back.

Monday, time for race 2 and 3.
Allard had a great start, from 4th to 3rd position, just behind Bastiaans' Porsche. For a couple of laps there wasn't much threat from the cars behind but finally Danny van Dongen and Sebastiaan Bleekemolen came back and overtook Allard. So he finished as fifth.

Race 3, the long 50 minute race with a mandatory driver change. Race 3 was started with a rolling start and Allard did a really good job. Just a few meters after the start/finish line he was at the 3rd place but a few seconds later Simon Knap (BMW M3) hit Allard on his left rear wheel. The tire got punctured by the right front wheel of Knap. Allard dropped back to the last place and drove back to the pits on the flat tire. At braking for the Audi S curve the tire got even off the rim.

In the pits the wheel was changed fast but now Allard came back in the race at the very last position. Fighting back he managed to reduce the gap with the leading car to less than 2 minutes. However, after 16 laps our race was over due to fuel pressure problems…
